Skywind Outfit Mod

Well, I am going to do it. I am making my own Skywind Outfit Mod. I've already got 11 Character Outfits done inlcuding Jiub. I did Jiub first to see if this was going to work and lo and behold when I fired up the game he was wearing the Outfit I assigned him. This is not an easy project and it is going to take a long time and I don't know if the developers will even accept it but I want to have some purpose in Skywind and this is it. I am going by the clothing that was put in the character's inventory when creating an Outfit and since every character is different I am creating a separate Outfit for each character. With time and patients I can get this done. It may take a couple of weeks but there will be no more naked characters in Skywind LOL!

Finally... No more naked

Finally... No more naked people

But are you really going to create diff. sets of clothing for all NPCs? I thought there are like thousand NPCs in morrowind?

@aretea - Yep I have to

@aretea - Yep I have to create a different Outfit for each character as the majority of them wear different stuff. I am going by the book on this one. By that I mean I am going by the items placed in the character's inventory because I am assuming that is what the developers would want me to do. It is going to take a long time. Probably several weeks as I can't do it 24\7. It took about an hour just to do 10 Outfits but I want to do this and if I exercise patients with time I can get it done.

I guess you could do some

I guess you could do some right now, but you obviously won't be able to finish until all the equipment assets are done.

It'd still be progress.

I've been at it about 4hrs.

I've been at it about 4hrs. now and have all of Seyda Neen done. I got a few screenshots while the game would let me. Folks are right. Even though I have each character in Seyda Neen outfitted you can see through some of them because the Meshes and Textures haven't been created for those items. I don't know how to do that kind of work. Never the less when all that is taken care of I'll have a complete Outfit mod that we can use. I am attaching a copy of what I've done so far. Try it out. See if you like it. See if I made any mistakes. Let me know if there are any naked characters in Seyda Neen. I think I got them all but you never know. Positive constructive feedback is what keeps modders going.

Well the game actually let me

Well the game actually let me take a tour of Seyda Neen without crashing and I found no naked characters but I found 2 characters with invisible torsos because they are outfitted in a suit of Armor with Mesh and Texture problems. LOL! If I could fix that I would but I know nothing about 3D item creation. I'll leave that to the pros.

I could be wrong wrong but I think our new clothing system works totally different and may render this useless, but I'm not sure maybe ask ravanna I believe he was one of the people setting up the new system, I just don't want you to go through all that hard work for nothing!

I thought that just affected armour?

@stijmunkey - Thanks for the

@stijmunkey - Thanks for the heads up. I have sent the question to Ravanna and am halting work on my mod until I hear from him. I may be wrong but in order to change the way clothing and armor is equipped would be to re-write the computer program of the game that allows this to happen. A potential problem with that would be the use of the CK by modders. Would the Skyrim CK recognize the new program or would it render that part of the CK useless assuming the Skyrim CK would be the modding tool for modders of Skywind. I don't know that is why I am asking.

@stijmunkey - I'll have to

@stijmunkey - I'll have to take a look at that forum. It might have some very useful information. I've resumed work on my mod and am making my way through Balmora one of the largest groups. In doing this I've come to notice something that the Skyrim CK does when you combine Armor and Clothing on one Outfit. It chooses the clothing as the equipped item. In the original Morrowind you could wear Armor and Clothing at the same time and that may be what the developers are trying to make possible and it may be possible but it would require a level of computer programming knowledge far above mine. I am a novice modder doing novice level work here. Its just a whole lot of it because there are a lot of characters. Anyways that is my thinking at this point. Even if my mod isn't usable I am enjoying making it.

I checked out the Forum

I checked out the Forum mentioned above and all it is about is how one contributor to the project is creating clothing. No one is addressing the issue that I am it seems and that is how you get a character to wear clothing or armor. Its pretty simple you assign the character an outfit in the Skyrim CK. You don't put their clothing or armor in their inventory. Only weapons and misc. items will work there. Here is another issue. In original Morrowind you could wear clothing and armor at the same time. This is not the case with Skyrim. Infact that was changed with Oblivion. All the characters in Skywind as it stands right now have their clothing and/or armor in their inventory and this is why we have naked characters. My mod aims to fix that. I don't know how to make it so you can wear both. It is probably possible but would be the work of an advanced computer programmer. Until one of the moderators of the site tells me to stop then I am going to continue with what I am doing as if this issue is not addressed another way someone is going to have to do what I am doing which is go down the list and make an outfit for every Skywind character. Bottom line right now is if you have no Outfit you get naked characters and I am more than happy to do the work. It is just going take a very long time but if I can change the hairstyle and beard profile of every Skyrim character I can do this. Yeah I made a Skyrim mod with all male characters getting long hair and a trimmed beard and female characters got a long let your hair down style. It was meant as a joke mod but it took me about a week to make it. Anyways I'll stop here for the day as I am tired. I've got a busy week coming up and I'll continue my work on the mod as I have time.

Hello everyone. I am closing

Hello everyone. I am closing down for the day. I will work on this mod a little each day and as I get a section of the game complete I will upload the new version here for folks to download and try out. I am currently working on Balmora one of the larger sections. I should have it done in a couple of days tops. Then I'll probably tackle Vivec. I haven't even made it to Balmora myself as the game crashes to desktop frequently. Today was mostly about Seyda Neen. I figure the best way to show the work would be to get the start of the game done. I actually got to take a pretty good tour of Seyda Neen with no CTDs and found no errors with my mod but by all means if you find any let me know about it and I'll fix them up ASAP.

We have an automatic way of

We have an automatic way of creating outfits for all NPCs out of their inventories in a few seconds. It'll be used when all clothes and armors are ready since doing it beforehand is completely pointless. That's why NPCs are naked and will remain so for some time.

We know what outfits are and how Skyrim works. Everything is intended as it is now.

@zilav - Ah COOL! I can stop

@zilav - Ah COOL! I can stop working on this mod then. Finally someone with the answer. Very good. You must have written a program that will take what is currently in the character's inventory and make an outfit out of it. Now that is AWESOME! Thanks for relaying the info. While making a mod of my own was fun it was also very time consuming. Easy to do but with like 1000 or more characters to do very difficult with the amount of time I have. Ok folks we now have the answer to the naked character problem. A program has been written that will take what is currently in a character's inventory and make an outfit of it. So just be patient. All will work out in the end.

Being that the issue has been

Being that the issue has been answered I am closing this topic. This will be my final comment and I am just going to kick back and let the pros. make this game and when it is all done it will have been worth the wait.
