ceremonial orc armor

EDIT: LOW RES MODEL SCREENSHOT AT THE BOTTOM

Hello,

i worked on this ceremonial orc armor the last weeks and just wanted to show you the progress.

The concept is from dragomir.

We worked close together and the following zbrush screenshot is the result.

the retopology for the game resolution is complete, also the basic texture bakes are done.

iam cleaning the bakes a little and stitch them together to begin the texturing soon.

i hope you like it, and may the brush be with you .

I like it, but I kinda thought that Orcish armor would be more faded dark green and an even darker green rather than black and red.

Cermonial orc armor is in

Cermonial orc armor is in title. There will be other orcish sets?

Btw. it looks juicy!

As for the title, the

As for the title, the original Morrowind orcish was meant to be ceremonial. As for other sets...

This would follow Michael Kirkbride's concept art more closely, and would be what orc nomads would wear, the barbarians you meet living in ruins and so on.

Will it get modelled? I don't know, this is just an idea.

Would be nice at least have

Would be nice at least have helm alternative. Maybe its 'too ceremonial'.

I would recommend a).

I would recommend changing the colors to the greens of modern Orcish armor, and then making this a ceremonial thing and giving a different form to the actual battle armor. Those horns could poke an eye out.

Japanese warfare was largely

Japanese warfare was largely ceremonial and for show, not all that practical, but this armour was definetly worn in battle by important samurai. Horns rarely make sense in historical armaments, but used in a status symbol armour from Orsinium they make perfect sense.

I have to agree with

I have to agree with IcarusBen about the colors; the red makes the armor have a more sinister look to it rather than strength/prowess. some quick ideas in pics below

I can see we're falling into

I can see we're falling into the same routine as usual... The design is around from March 2014, which is more than a year. And of course, only now, when the model is near finished it's questioned and discussed. Damn it people, if you want to express opinions, do it at the stage stuff can still be easily changed.

Anyway, the colour of metal I intend to be different from the concept, but definetly not the dull green thing from Skyrim. We'll develop a style for the alloy when texturing, I'm thinking about a dark metal with a green glow, perhaps other oily reflecting colours, as a nod to how it looked in Morrowind. As for the lining, well, red contrasts best with the green of the skin, and metal when it gets the green sheen. It's the colour of passion and aggression, but also leadership and royalty. I just think it fits here, and I tried many different colour combinations :P

I am not saying that "this one is bad".
I am wondering if there is another helm or armor set.

Here's my suggested

Here's my suggested improvement... Basically lift the lower half of the body up some. The proportion looks odd as is, I basically just scaled the entire bottom half to rise to where it is now. Also, the horns seem odd to me for some reason, not sure what exactly.

This could possibly be during skin creation, but I don't imagine any orcish armor set being in pristine condition. Especially ceremonial armor. I'd imagine it having several scuffs and scratches, maybe even a crack or two. Overall it could be in good condition, but the Orismer are a rough people.

hello, iam trying to texture

hello,

iam trying to texture the orc armor and here are my results. for a closer look at the diffuse map -> here a sketchfab realtime turnaround.

https://sketchfab.com/models/8de3a6db6652423c80090bc1597e7ed... <<<<<< sketchfab turnaround

-goal was to have a dark metal with oily reflections and a green shine.

sadly, the chest UV is so stuffed, that the overall resolution is relativly low. i hope it deosnt matter so much.

I'm liking this colour scheme

I'm liking this colour scheme, but how about making it even shinier? You could make the diffuse just a little bit darker, and give the specular map a different colour (like light pale green), so that the gleam would stand out more.

Kind of like this metal, but with green gleam instead of purple. Or maybe purple gleam on green metal, or colorful gleam on the texture you have, whatever looks coolest :P

Wow, looks really nice!

Wow, looks really nice!

The color scheme feels a bit too "Daedric" though. Maybe make the blacks a bit lighter and maybe do another color than red? Maybe we should all vote on it? lol

Green would probably complement the design atop the armor & the orcs themselves most. Other things that might work could be a faded red, yellow, and blue.

This looking so good I wanna cry. Only one thing Smart, not trust marmoset preview that much , as it shows far different effects from ones you'll get ingame.

Other than that keep up the great work !

BTW : If you want to send me the model with the WIP texture files i could start working on the morphs for gender and races while you finish texturing. ( this would be for the win )

I really love it but if the UV is so stuffed, why can't you just take the (I don't know what they're called) in the upper left corner in the texture and make a single higher res one instead of making lower res separate ones when they're pretty much identical? Or having only one leg and make both legs use the texture? Now I know next-to-nothing about UV mapping but isn't that possible?

Hello,

Hello,

iam a little shy showing you the new textures i have made for the orc armor but i cant hide for ever, right? so letz do it.

i am aware, that the marmoset preview is not like it will be in the game. thats actually a problem for me.

"download" pack with textures and mesh >>>>>> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34627407/orc%20armor%20p...

whats left is the reflection map_M and maybe a gloss map

can someone test the textures and tell me how it looks? i need some help, feedback and motivation to be honest because i dont feel compftable with textures. maybe someone can take a look at the fur i have made, and tell me if its ok so far?

ignore the marmoset fur preview i changed it into a more cool looking fur.

so far so good. cu
