Help converting my Morrowind Stash!

Hi all, hope this isn't in too much of a terrible place as this is my first post here! Found Morroblivion a few weeks back and been itching to try it out and finally yesterday got all of the files in place to give it a go! It looks like a really nice addition to Oblivion and it's obvious that a lot of work has gone into it but the installation process is a confusing mess... If it weren't for the guides on this site I never would've made it but even they leave a lot to be desired and they assume quite a high level of modding knowledge on the players part. I'd highly recommend taking the time to bundle EVERYTHING into one place when someone has the time (I had to follow links to many different websites all with multiple downloads that COULD be the one I was sent looking for)

While I'm on it, I've been unable to do anything with the Graphics extender, like at all! It's one of the links I mentioned above which leads to one of two different pages each of which lists literally dozens of possible download choices. I managed to get the game running without it but it looks rubbish (as does Oblivion!) what with it being so dated. If someone could advise me on how to squeeze the best visuals out of this game I'd be very grateful. Struggling to find a good facemod for oblivion too if anyone has one of those!!!

Anyway though, on to the actual reason I joined up!!! I've owned and completed every elder scrolls game there is (though some of the earlier ones don't really have ends per se!) except Oblivion... The lack of a minimap, awful inventory system and stupid lockpicking are just a few of the things that stopped me wanting to invest in the game in the same way I did Morrowind so I waited for mods to address what irked me. One by one these things have been addressed but each time I think about sitting down to play through the whole game I have to start from scratch with a fresh install. Then things like OBMM, OBSE and an endless search for mods to improve graphics and faces before I'm actually happy to play the game.

Needless to say I never quite made it! One of the final hurdles I never managed to cross was building myself a nice stash mod like I did for morrowind. It was essentially a series of hidden doors throughout the world, all of which led to an interior full of empty shelves and tabletops which I could store my favourite loot on throughout the course of the game. It looked amazing as it filled up with full sets of every armour imaginable, a shelf each for ebony, glass and daedric weapons. An entire table dedicated to dwemer artefacts!

My Oblivion modding was never quite as successful though and of course it already has quick travel so the doors were unnecessary. My initial attempt was to create a third 'hub' off the Imperial City like the prison area but I struggled with the landscaping and it was just too intrusive. I've now got a good mod in place inside the very top of the white gold tower which has in it a door to each of the eight cities but I still haven't built up the stash as I can't find a way to do it that I like. I tried to use the esp converter to simply turn the interior from my Morrowind mod into usable oblivion data but it confused the hell out of me and even when it finally seemed to work it didn't!

I'm now busy repairing the damage that this attempt somehow did to my Morroblivion install and I won't be trying to do it again but can someone please try and help me here? I have 2 Morrowind esp files that I'd like to use in Oblivion if at all possible. One of them adds a small island to the northwest of Solstheim and the second is the stash itself.

For anyone who doesn't understand the sort of thing I'm talking about, here are some pics I uploaded a while back of the old IC attempt and my original island and stash > http://s1198.beta.photobucket.com/user/Tim_Munt/library/Morrowind%20Moddage

Converter puts everything in

Converter puts everything in resulting Morrowind_ob.esm, including full Morrowind + expansions + whatever mods you added in the ini file to convert.

It can't convert esp files individually.

To convert Morrowind mod, you'll need first to run the converter and then separate the mod content from resulting master using TES4Edit.

Depending on the size and scope of the mod, it can actually be easier to recreate it from scrath in Oblivion CS.

Thanks qwerty, I've actually

Thanks qwerty, I've actually spent today doing just that! I have multiple monitors so I was able to run both Morrowind and Oblivion construction sets in their own dedicated screens and I literally used coord for coord to rebuild the interior with the new converted resources.

Got 2 new questions now though...

Firstly, how come the textures in my new Oblivion mod look so much worse than the older Morrowind ones? When I finished the build I was able to see both old and new mods at the same time and while the floor in MW looked like lots of very small stones which mesh very well together, the new one has huge slabs which look really wierd in a small square room! Are there any decent texture packs for Morroblivion? I wouldn't mind some advice on getting the most from my system with the graphics extender too as Morrowind looks just awful at the moment! Have a beast of a machine so can handle anything.

Secondly and more important, I need a way to travel between my Oblivion stash and the new Morrowind one. I've kept the original rooted to just the Oblivion ESM while the new one has been built in a Morrowind interior and relies on many more files. Needless to say this makes removal of Morroblivion easy later on but it suddenly occurs to me I would lose that stash too which would be bad!!! Is there any way to copy-paste the contents of the MW stash into a duplicated Oblivion interior? I could then link the stashes with a normal doorway... Either way though I need a way to travel between worlds integrated into my mods, so I'm not sure if any of the currently available stand-alone mods for the purpose will do...

[EDIT : I just realised there would be no point in moving the mod into an Oblivion interior because it relies almost solely on the Morroblivion resources and therefore wouldn't function after it's removal anyway! So ignore this question unless you really want to answer it!]

Finally (as an afterthought) I had some really nice setups in my old stash with suits of armour displayed on the walls but the Oblivion meshes for gear make this impossible. Can anyone think of something similar I could do with Oblivion's resources?

Thanks in advance for the help! T

AND :-

Been using the world transporter that came bundled with the version of Morroblivion I downloaded which is Kisimba in the ICPrison courtyard. It occurs to me that I could use a similar set up for transport between my stashes by placing the destination xmarkers and transport providers themselves inside each stash. I'd also want to make it instant and free though and I had a little play with it but haven't modded quest/dialogue for a VERY long time so decided against it! Is there a way this can be done easily? Or could I modify a spell to travel exclusively between my two stashes? I know one of the world transport mods IS a spell but can you choose where it transports you to and from???

Also just downloaded Eloth's Visual Overhaul, should I try it out or are there bigger packs available now that I can use? Would rather get one big mod than mess around with lots of little ones!

EDIT : Portal Spell by Sjors Boomschor link is dead, can't find it elsewhere online either so unable to try this one out...

Found working link here http://www.mediafire.com/?ai3zxnekn76fd5a which someone should probably update on the morroblivion mod page! Works fine going from Cyrodil to Vvardenfell but not the other way around (which apparently it should do)

As anyone actually converted

As anyone actually converted a full mod?

I've tried Firemoth and TR1 but it was so messed up that I decided to save the interiors esp only.

Well, there are several mannequin mods on nexus, if that's what you want.

Complete Installation includes all aviable texture replacers.

I don't really understand your other questions. If you want a particular interior cell to be accessible from both Morrowind and Cyrodiil worldspaces, then it can be done by simply using teleport doors (as many as you like). Keep in mind though, that you must set Global value PlayerInMorrowind to 1 when travelling to Morrowind, and to 0 when travelling everywhere else (this is important for dialogue).

As anyone actually converted a full mod?

I've tried Firemoth and TR1 but it was so messed up that I decided to save the interiors esp only.

I converted TR map 1 and made it dependant on regular Morrowind_ob.esm (not much luck with maps 2 and 3 however).

And a couple of small mods, don't really remember which.

If you want a particular

If you want a particular interior cell to be accessible from both Morrowind and Cyrodiil worldspaces, then it can be done by simply using teleport doors (as many as you like).

Unless I'm missing something that's not possible. And frankly, if it was possible I'm not sure why people would have gone to so much trouble with portal and transport scripts for moving between the two worlds...

My current issue is that all doors which lead from one world to another will simply open up in a black empty interior and that'll be that. Works both ways, OB>MW and MW>OB.

The closest I managed to get to a solution (for my needs) before the weekend was to use the original 'kisimba' chargen and transport mod (part of the full installation) and simply make transport cost no money and take no time. Now that I've tested it and it's confirmed working I'll change the dialogue too and I already know I can have the script teleport me to INSIDE the stash I want to be sent to. The difficulty with this method is that I can't seem to move the NPCs themselves... So far I've deleted all their AI (so they don't sleep or wander etc) and that's made them permanently available at their editor locations. However... If I MOVE the editor location to my stash interiors (where I want them) they simply don't exist... Entering the locations where they SHOULD be is fine but the editor just doesn't seem to place them after the move. BUT if I manually revert the changes and place the reference back in it's original exterior cell it works again, so I'm repairing the changes rather than undoing them. So I CNA move them around their original exterior cells but not place them inside it seems. No idea why so any help would be great. I had thought that the problem would solve itself when I removed the two AI scripts for going to bed and travelling to editor location, as without them they should simply always be there 24/7. But alas no...

Anyway I'm back to it now and I'm going to see if it'll allow me to move the NPCs to other exterior locations as I would be ok with that for now!

Because it's immersive?

Have you read this guide about linking doors?

Touche! lol I guess you're

Touche! lol I guess you're right, it is far more in keeping with the RPG spirit... But as you can tell I'm just after a sort of tardis mod (but no not an actual tardis mod as that would suck!) I used my stash in Morrowind as a global hub with a bunch of doors near the major towns that all led to the interior cell. All I want now is a similar way to connect the two stashes between worlds.

Just looking at thgose links now and it certainly explains why I can't make this direct link. I've made one ESP for the oblivion stash, another for the morrowind stash and a third to try and connect them. That's why I can't use the third 'linking' ESP to connect the doors or place NPCs in the stashes themselves I guess! Will read on and see if I can figure out the 'de-isolation' links on the page you gave me. Thanks again Qwerty for the help!

EDIT : Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction, turns out I didn't even consider the easiest solution! By changing the two doors I wanted to link so that they both led to a pre-existing location in the Oblivion.ESM I'm now able to travel between stashes with a short corridor and 2 doors! Not one but I don't care! I used one of the small archways in the IC Arena map which is perfect. I fall through the floor currently but will add planks later and I can just about manage to go through the second door before falling off the planet lol So success, thanks for the help! Can now get on with enjoying Morroblivion!

Also, with Construction Set

Also, with Construction Set Extender de-isolation isn't necessary anymore, it handles esp-mastering natively.
