From observing the forums, the biggest problem people seem to be having is not knowing how to manually install so many people seem to install Skywind/Skyblivion incorrectly. Sometimes they don't even put the .esm file in the data folder.
So find your Skyrim Data folder. It's different for many people but I believe for most people it's C:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/skyrim/data. If that's not how it works for you, mine is applications/The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim/contents/resources/transgaming/programfiles/ The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim/Data. My directory is weird though because I ported my Skyrim off steam on to my mac.
So basically, the data folders are where you put all the files. You should have folders called meshes and textures. Any files you receive in a mod in a meshes or textures folder should go in those folders. Don't ever overide your meshes and textures folders unless you're trying to uninstall any of your mods that are using custom meshes or textures.
That's a screenshot of the folder. It should look the same on PCs except in the PC format. I have 0 bugs on my Skyrim. It's patched to 1.93 and I have over 100 mods installed and I've never had a CTD or bug. That's because I have a good load order. If you want me to make a thread of how to set up your load order, ask me.
Then, after all the folders are put in the data folders, just check the mod in the Skyrim Launcher and you're good to go.
If you have any more questions please put them here. If you want me to make another thread that will apply to Morroblivion instead of Skywind. Ask.

I had a hackintosh, and I was wondering how you ported the game in the first place..?
My load order is:
1) Dawnguard
2) Hearthfire
3) Dragonborn
4) Unofficial Skyrim Patch
5) Unofficial Dawnguard Patch
6) Unofficial Hearthfire Patch
7) Unofficial Dragonborn Patch
8) Purewaters
9) Purewaters DG
10) Purewaters DB
11) Enhanced Lights and FX
12) Realistic Lighting Overhaul
Is that good?
I cider patched my Skyrim. If you don't believe I bought it, I can show you the box. But I would use wine if I were you. Wine is a lot better. It allows you to use multiple .exe files. But your load order is excellent. Nothing to change there. Look at that load order, if you experience any bugs or CTDs, it's most likely the mod's fault.
Cool thanks man, nah I believe you haha :) So is the process of installing mods the exact same as Windows? I may install OS X on my computer again sometime down the track :)
The only difference is that Mac users can't use the skyrim launcher so we have to use the plugins.txt and DLClist.txt to activate mods and configure out load order.
ah ok well that's not too bad :P
Too many youngsters these days just relying on the steam workshop and NMM.... :P
Mac users unite! Now where are our Linux cousins? :D
Ah man, I guess I had better leave..... :)
Morrowind and Oblivion works nice on Linux under Wine. But i had a bloody nightmare with mods: Linux have case-sensetive FS, but Windows is not. And many moders create texture and model replacers with lower-cased names. It causes missed objects. Because Bethesda write like this: ICWhatEverTownOrHS, but moder write icwhatevertownorhs.Linux wants first name, but Windows can find both.

Yeah I agree. I actually laughed at some of the ridiculous places people put the ESM file and the other various data on here. I think one guy was complaining because Skywind wasn't working in his game, but all the data was still in the 'downloads' folder. "What!? I actually have to put the data in Skyrim? Why doesn't it so it for me!?" That isn't exactly what he said but that's how I read it.
i honestly trust my own manual installation skills that I've been using since Morrowind more than some robot that makes assumptions.
Once on the nexus, I had a mod that had multiple texture options so I disabled the NMM option. Someone actually took it and forced NMM to install it, THEN complained to me that it wasn't working in game.
Knowing your way around your computer and through the package contents of an application is a useful skill that should not die with mod managers.
before skyrim i didn't know a thing about moding so i had to google a lot just to figure out where to put my first mod i got from nexus
in good old day's u go to C: and look the game up u are playing nowe its C:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/skyrim/data
it was rely hard to find that the first time
How do we use plugins.txt and DLClist.txt to activate mods? I am new to modding Skyrim, tried to do it before but it didn't work.
