Everything about this mod is and will be perfect but I feel like the one thing lacking is a real story element that explains why you're in a place that was devastated by the red mountain eruption in 4E 6 and causing events that you could conceivably be carrying books about. Has any thought been out into a story to this mod yet? I've thought about it myself and I always seem to go back to the Psijic Order. Say somehow, someway the nerevarine has been erased from history and the monks ask you to be sent back in time to take his place to prevent dagoth ur from destroying the Empire and then some magic happens and boom. You're suddenly in the cargo hold with saint Jiub and ready to begin you're adventure. Thoughts?

Story elements

NOT going to happen.
This may sound rude, but I really dislike when this subject comes up. I really don't wanna change stuff around just to be 'lore'. I say everyone should just try and enjoy Morrowind/Oblivion inside of the Skyrim engine when it's finished.
And if you really want story elements, just think of the Dragonborn having CHIM, so he can travel to other games, because he knows he's in a game. At first he tried to travel to Arena, because he thought "Woah cool, I can go to everywhere in Tamriel!" but then he seen the 8bit graphics, all the generic npcs and how annoying it was to move and swing your sword, and he said eff this bull shit. So he went to Morrowind. Soon he discovered Morrowind's combat was miss miss miss miss miss miss miss hit miss miss. So he came to us and begged us to take that game to Skyrim's engine, and we said yes.
My story is more of a mix of the CHIM lore and Poltergeist(you know the part where the thing in the tv talking to us, but he doesn't pull us in thankfully). But that is now our lore. Also he tried Daggerfall, but he heard the inn music, and it nearly drove him insane.
@Moosethebat you have interesting ideas but the aim of the project is to eventually have all 3 games playable under the skyrim engine and so is a recreation of those games and not a "4th Era" version of Cyrodiil and Vvardenfell. In terms of the timegap this has already been discussed in length and the main focus should be on making the content first and then sorting out the development of mods to compensate for the timegap, one idea that was mentioned would be for the use of an Elder Scroll to travel back and forth between the eras that would allow you to play all three games but in a lore-friendly manner.
At this point its just to except that and play the story. When the time comes someone can create a backstory mod for the lore jukies, like someone has interveied in the devines work and a avatar of the scrools has come to recrut the hero of red mountain to become the hero of kavatch and the dragon born. Then to travel between the two time frames ust have a portal that takes you their just incase there are land masses that over lap. (possible solthiem dragonborn dlc for example.) As well as some twitches for small story things like, segorath put a script that meks him recognized you as himself if you did shivering iles so hes says ow "hello me in his sarcastic tone". perhaps a patch for becoming a werewolf and telling the companions. But right now they are building the inforstructure there is noreason to worry about it. Its much easier to except as well the land masses are connected, think about tale of two wastelands both world spaces are on the opposite side of a contenet.
Speaking of Tale of Two Wastelands, I'm assuming a lot of the stuff is similar to Skyrim since it's made by the same company. How did they get their master file to become dependent on the NV master file? Or did they use a different approach?
Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way about this thread.
We've already got something like 5 threads in the archive on this topic. Like others have said, Skywind will just include the actual content of Morrowind in the Skyrim engine. If you want to figure out how to string the stories of the two games together, you can make a separate mod that bridges the two. (That's how Morroblivion works, btw; Morroblivion just adds Morrowind, and there's another mod you use to travel between the two.)
Most of the content fallout 3 is In NV, as far as I know they merged the two esms into 1 as well. As for the content that is why they still have the original voice acting from fallout 3. I stopped heavily following it as I played fallout 3 and NV to Death. (1000+ hours were recorded on my steam for NV).
Ps: just remeber morrowind and oblivion are much easier since they happened almost at the same time.
New here, but I have a clever idea on how to link the games together. If anyone has the time after this is fully released and all. And since the new Dragonborn DLC is coming out, and looks like they may add a Morrowind landmass to the game. This could solve the colides of the same places?
Well, Lets say the do add Morrowind into the game. But before you travel there, lets say you find an Elder Scroll that tells the Nerevarine story. You open it up and read it and it sends you back in time to the begining of Morrowind. The same could be said for Oblivion. But, then I thought "What if you create a new character for this extra space to play?" I came up with starting up on Morrowind. You play through like Morrowind, then after that it is said that Nerevar sailed off somewhere. But what if he was captured by the Legion or whoever and brought to Cyrodil and put into the Jail cell. Then you could play through that like Oblivion.
But if Oblivion isn't added yet, at the end of Morrowind, and after the end of the DLC's, you get this quest to go back up to Solstheim. You go up there but end up being frozen, that after the sum two hundred years you defrost (being protected by a God maybe?) And venture into Skyrim where you are put into the wagon at the begining?
If I ever get into modding into Skyrim, and become good at it. That's how I would string them together.
I think we should leave this topic alone untill we actually can see the finish line. it's not like that many people are goona say "I hate Skywind because The dovahkiin in was never in morrowind in the 3rd era. After the project is done maybe then we can talk about linking the games togather.(yep I just ate my word from back when I first came here) But still, I think we should have a seprate esp that adds quest to link the games togather but first I think we should actually remake the games most people who are waiting for us to finish this project, are waiting to see the games in the new engine, not see how we will connect the game togather.
but with that said (since this topic is already here I think we should do a quest like)
The thalmor are after the elder scrolls (so they can figure out how to erase humans forever) You have to stop they before they can. You find Elder scroll morrowind, relive life of nevarine. upon arival in morrowind character creation menu launches back up. neverarine finds elder scroll skyrim game switchs back to normal skyrim. (then when skyblivion is done) dovahkiin find elder scroll cyrodiil. Player plays oblivion but after the ending of oblivion in the following 4E years you see how the thalmor started and then how to stop them.
But anywayI know without a doubt that nothing will ever be done to link the game. Player will probably have to use console commands just to start up main quest anyway(in the worst case)
"I say everyone should just try and enjoy Morrowind/Oblivion inside of the Skyrim engine when it's finished"
Agreed. While I am toying with mods released for oblivion forwhen the skyblivion addon is more complete, I think that the entire reason for Skywind/Skyblivion is for us to see our favorite bloodmoon werewolf/lucien lachance in the glorious skyrim engine. Because think about it. Once both games are converted we can port over the mods that devs have made open source and further and faster enhance skyrims already budding mod selection.
Still. Once all is said and done, it would provide a framework for new quests/4e versions of both lands for people who would want it done. I still say wait until both games are fully converted until people think of such ideas.
